What's the Latest?

~January / February 2007~

We are off to a great start at Silver City Church in 2007!  Both mentoring programs started back full force in January and the kids and their leaders have returned from the winter break eager to get back to learning their memory verses, working through their Bible study together, and spending important time in fellowship.  The Cut Above group for our teenagers added three kids to the program over the break.  Two of the three are young ladies from River City Church while the third is a young man at Silver City.  We now have thirteen pairs of young people and adults as a part of this program in its first year.

In February we had the 1st Annual Early Thaw Chili and Soup Cook-off!  Hosted on February 24th, the event saw participation from Silver City Church, River City Church, Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church, and Pleasant Valley Church of Christ all joining together for good food and fellowship.  Well over a hundred people showed up to support the Silver City and River City youth as they prepare for a mission trip to Mexico in March.  Winners in the individual competitions were Curtis Eubanks for Spicy Chili recipe, Sarah Lape for her Regular Chili recipe, and Jamie Keim for her Soup entry.  We appreciate all twenty-seven of the entrants into the soup and chili competition and we look forward to hosting this event next year.

Coming in March:

    Kingdom Seekers Leadership Retreat - March 2nd - 4th

    Mexico Mission Trip - March 25th - 30th
